Traeth Lafan Nature Reserve
This nature reserve is located next to the beach at Llanfairfechan. It is a magnet for birdwatchers who come to view the rich variety of waders and wildfowl. The reserve includes the beach and a large area of intertidal mudflats stretching westwards as far as Bangor and out to sea towards Anglesey. The distinctive oystercatcher is just one of the species for which the reserve is of national importance. There are bird hides and a picnic area at Morfa Madryn, which is situated west of the promenade, a lovely walk along the coast in its own right.
